Just Listen - Sarah Dessen

"Don't think, or judge. Just listen."

A year ago, Annabel was known as the girl who had everything - perfect family, perfect friends, perfect everything. The next school year, she's nothing. She has no best friend, because Sophie dumber her, she feels like nobody at home pays any attention to her because they're all worried about her sister, who is anorexic, and no one to sit with at lunchtime. That is where she meets Owen Armstrong. Owen is known for fighting and for being music-obsessed. He always has his iPod in, and has a knack for always telling the truth. With this year of firsts for Annabel, who knows what might come along.

Just Listen is my new favorite book. The quote that I put at the very top is my new favorite quote right now, too. So many times we find ourselves judging things: other people, books, music, everything. Annabel has judged Owen at the beginning of the book, but finds out how great friends - or more than friends - they can be.

I know most of you have probably read this book, but I just read it, and it is excellent - my favorite Sarah Dessen book. It deals with a lot of big issues in a real down-to-earth way, like all of her other books. And I have to say that I am officially in love with Owen. :) If you haven't read it yet, read it and you'll understand why. Wouldn't it be wonderful if a guy like him actually existed?

Hey, I was reasearching Just Listen for a project I'm doing at school and I was wondering if you could tell me what you thought of the message behind it? Also what religion you are? Sorry if this all sounds a bit weird, but it would be a great help for me to get a good grade! I've had to chose a story, song, anything that has a moral to it but I will be needing more than one opinion and I happened to stumble across your review as I was googling. Sorry again, for how weird this all sounds. Its okay it you don't participate :) nice blog layout by the way :)
