Review Policy

Hello, and thank you for your interest in having your book reviewed on Hope's Bookshelf!  Due to my school schedule, work schedule, and my review pile now, I am only accepting a small number of books for review.

Genres and Forms Reviewed:

Hope's Bookshelf is a young adult/middle grade review site.  I am trying to expand it, however, to include children's books such as easy readers and picture books.  However, I will not be accepting any adult books unless they have young adult crossover appeal.

I read pretty much every genre of book.  I am not very picky about the genre.  I do read some science fiction, however it just depends on if the topic of the particular book appeals to me.

The only categories I am not accepting for review right now are adult books (unless they have crossover appeal), non-fiction novels, and biographies/autobiographies/memoirs.  Sorry!

I am also not accepting any self published books or e-books of any kind (this includes .pdf's, or books to be read on any reading device such as Amazon's Kindle).

I will respond as soon as possible to the review requests sent to me.

Housekeeping Items:

As most of you understand, this blog is my hobby.  It is not my job, and I do not get paid from it.  Because of this, I do have a job, and I am also still in school. With all of this, I keep myself pretty busy.  At this time, I cannot guarantee that I will review any books that I accept.  I will try my hardest, but sometimes it just does not happen.

I cannot guarantee that your book will be reviewed by it's review date.  I try my hardest to get all books reviewed by the review date, or in the week after, but this does not always happen.  If you request a date specifically then you will most likely have your book reviewed on the date that you request.

Reviews:

My reviews start out with a picture of the cover on the left hand side.

The first two to three paragraphs are a summary of the novel.  Lately, I have been trying to write my own summaries.  However, if I have a busy day ahead, or I am just not comfortable writing the summary (the reasoning being I do not want to have spoilers, etc.) then the summary comes from amazon.com.

Following the summary is a two to three paragraph review of the book.  I focus on both what I liked and what I didn't like in the novel.  My reviews are honest reviews.  If you are looking for a place that gives just good reviews, this is not the right blog.  That being said, I do focus on both what I liked and did not like, so generally the review will not be all bad (or all good).

Interviews, Giveaways, Etc.:

I love promoting authors on my blog.  That's what I am here to do.  I am open to doing interviews, guest blogs, giveaways, or anything else you are planning.  I will be involved with blog tours or other promotions that you have going on for your release.

If you have any more questions, send me an e-mail and I will respond as soon as possible.
