Blogger Guest Blog: Yan from Books By Their Cover

Our first blogger guest blog comes from Yan from Books By Their Cover.

Like Hope, I recently celebrated my birthday. I just celebrated my birthday back in June right before school ended with a few friends. The day started out ordinary enough with a beautiful sunrise where I gallantly rode my graceful unicorn (Grace) to school. My school is located on a gorgeous vineyard where I greeted the chubby chipmunks with a tickle under the chin and left Grace near the flower garden. Okay that’s all crap. But damn would that not have been awesome if it were true!? Of course this will probably only appeal to the Disney Princesses at heart.

Anyway this was what really happened…

Woke up at the grueling hour of 6, and left for school at 7. Got there at 7:30 and ditched at 8:15 or so. Shhhhhh don’t tell anyone. But it was the last day of school! Even the security guards didn’t care—seriously we just walked out through the front door. We took the train down to Center City-ish and waited patiently for the movie theater to open. We were a tad bit early you see…like 2 hours early coughcough. I dragged my friends to the Barnes and Noble down the street I mean would you not!? Too tempting not to. We chillaxed to kill most of time and went to see UP the movie*. Thankfully it was still playing then and at $6 every Tuesday it was perfect timing. Fast forward, fast forward. 3 hours later we’re at iHop because I was craving pancakes for a while. None of us (all 4) ever went to an iHop a) because two of them lived in the south part of city where there are none and b)because I’m too lazy to go by myself. So picture us, wide eyed, terrified, and hungry at iHop. That thus was how we ended the day. We managed to feed 4 mouths with $21 with the help of breakfast combo that included sausage, eggs, hash browns, and pancakes, and 2 thick ham and cheese melt. Oh and let’s not forget the birthday cake that 2 of my friends baked. Isn’t it spiffy?

*It was a good movie.
