Birthdays are a time to celebrate and rejoice in both the good things and bad things that happened in the last year. It is a time to reflect on who you were in the previous year and who you want to become in the coming year.

My sixteenth birthday was not magical like most people experience. Instead, I was quite sick. So, I am going to skip to my seventeenth birthday. It was pretty simple, but a lot of fun. On the day before my Birthday, I went to Powell's with my best friend Sierra, my little sister Elizabeth, my mom, and her boyfriend George. For those of you that haven't been to Powells, it is a magical wonderland of books. It is three stories high. The young adult section alone is about 10 times bigger then the section in a normal Barnes and Noble. The prices are also a bit cheaper. I mean I got twenty books for less then two hundred dollars, which I think is amazing. The next day, we had a family dinners at my sisters, and it was fun. Seventeen was a bit sweeter for me, but I am sure that you'll have an amazing sixteenth birthday. So, enjoy it, Hope!

Thanks, Sarah!

hope.
