Going Too Far - Jennifer Echols

Summary:

How far would you go?

All Meg has ever wanted is to get away. Away from high school. Away from her backwater town. Away from her parents who seem determined to keep her imprisoned in their dead-end lives. But one crazy evening involving a dare and forbidden railroad tracks, she goes way too far. . . and almost doesn’t make it back.

John made a choice to stay. To enforce the rules. To serve and protect. He has nothing but contempt for what he sees as childish rebellion, and he wants to teach Meg a lesson she won’t soon forget. But Meg pushes him to the limit by questioning everything he learned at the police academy. And when he pushes back, demanding to know why she won’t be tied down, they will drive each other to the edge – and over…

Review:

I wasn’t sure what to get from Jennifer Echols in Going Too Far. Her two previous novels had been Simon Rom-Coms, and this one wasn’t. However, Echols uses her great talent of writing romance in a darker, more serious, novel.

Going Too Far exceeded my expectations. I was expecting it to be wonderful – the summary was intriguing and the cover art was beautiful. It was everything I wanted it to be – and more.

The story behind this book was really good. It was well thought out and everything was described wonderfully. Imagine this: What do you think would happen when a cop and a blue-haired deliquent have to ride around in said cop’s car together for a week? And what do you have? A wonderful story.

The characters were all wonderful and three-dimensional. None of them seemed flat to me – not even the minor characters. Even the oddest characters in the book are very easy to relate to. And the description was wonderful. Overall, the writing was great.

Going Too Far by Jennifer Echols is a love story, but it’s also a very serious novel about getting over your fears and finding out more about yourself than even you knew. This is my favorite book by Jennifer Echols, and I look forward to re-reading it sometime very soon.

FIVE HEARTS.

hope.
