The Dust of 100 Dogs - A.S. King

Summary:

In the late seventeenth century, famed teenage pirate Emer Morrisey was on the cusp of escaping the pirate life with her one true love and unfathomable riches when she was slain and cursed with "the dust of one hundred dogs," dooming her to one hundred lives as a dog before returning to a human body-with her memories intact.

Now she's a contemporary American teenager and all she needs is a shovel and a ride to Jamaica.

Review:

[Be prepared for fangirly-ness. You were warned.]

Where can I even BEGIN about this book besides this: Go. Get. It. Now. I didn't really know what to expect about The Dust of 100 Dogs. I knew that Emer was a pirate. I knew that she was cursed to live one hundred lives as a dog. I knew that bloggers were going CRAZY about this book.

And I will now be one of those crazy bloggers going crazy over The Dust of 100 Dogs. It was just... amazing. (Yes, that sounded really fangirl-y, but I can't help myself!)

I couldn't figure out this book until pretty much the last page. It made me mad while I was reading it (those who follow me on Twitter know this already, haha), but that just means A.S. King did a wonderful job writing it. The way the flashbacks of Saffron's life as Emer, the Dog Facts, and her life as Saffron were mixed in all together was just amazing. I don't know how she kept all those storylines seperated. Yes, they are all the same story, but they are different stories, too, in their own way.

And the ending, oh goodness, the ending! It was really good! It's something that you will not expect coming until it's there. So, basically, you should get this book. The publishers were even really nice and it came straight out to paperback! Mhm, so go to amazon or your local bookstore pronto!

hope.
