Booking Through Thursday: August 21.

Whether you usually read off of your own book pile or from the library shelves NOW, chances are you started off with trips to the library. (There’s no way my parents could otherwise have kept up with my book habit when I was 10.) So … What is your earliest memory of a library? Who took you? Do you have you any funny/odd memories of the library?

I still use the library and I've been using it for years. My earliest memory is of the summer programs there. Each summer, my library has a summer program for the kids and you can win a bunch of prizes and you turn in "book reports" (you just read books and write what you like about them and they get hung up in the kid's section of my library) and it's really fun. I think the one I remember first was from when I was around the age of four or five, I do believe. I used to love going and I would go every summer until I grew out of the kid's section.

My mom would takes me to the library the most. She tutors there a few days a week, and I usually go with her, because I volunteer. Even when I was a kid, my mom would always take me. We think we have this disease where we compulsively check out books from the library. I can't even go into the library without wanting to check out a book. There's just something about the idea of a bunch of free books in one place that gets to me.

hope.

I wish my library had done something like that with the book reports. Maybe I could practiced on my writing along with my reading. :-)
